Our disco-themed poster was at the heart of the European Transport Safety Council’s successful social media campaign for new European car safety standards.
European legislation on vehicle legislation is technical, complex and not the easiest thing to get people excited about. Our challenge was to get past the jargon and attract people’s attention to the European Transport Safety Council’s life-saving campaign.
We designed a 1970s disco-themed poster to get people interested in the road safety campaign. The European Transport Safety Council used the poster across their last night the EU saved my life social media campaign. They photographed supporters of the campaign holding the poster and posted the images across their social media channels.
The European Transport Safety Council won their campaign. A provisional EU deal on new vehicle safety was agree in 2019. This included mandatory installation of new driver assistance technologies, as well as revised minimum crash testing standards and measures to protect pedestrians and cyclists. Thousands of lives will be saved as a result.
