40th anniversary exhibitionSpokes, the Lothian Cycle Campaign
We designed an exhibition to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Spokes, the Lothian Cycle Campaign, raising awareness and support for Spokes among thousands of people.
Spokes is a volunteer-run organisation that campaigns for better conditions for cyclists in Edinburgh and the Lothians. To celebrate their 40th anniversary, they decided to create an exhibition which would highlight their achievements over the past 40 years and look forward to a future transformation of Edinburgh’s cycling infrastructure.
Spokes commissioned us to design an eye-catching series of large-format exhibition posters. We used a mixture of archive photos, maps, quotes and writing to illustrate the breadth of Spokes’ work over the past 40 years and their substantial impact on improving conditions for cyclists in Edinburgh.
The Spokes anniversary exhibition was displayed at over twenty venues and events across Edinburgh and the Lothians, reaching an audience of thousands of people.
Spokes received lots of very good feedback on the exhibition. It served as an excellent prompt for entering into conversations and encouraging people to sign up as Spokes supporters.
“We came to this new and we are volunteers with other busy lives: the fact that we now have a brilliant outcome is almost against expectations and says a lot about your encouragement and giving us confidence in doing this together, being prompt with suggestions we needed to make this happen, and being flexible, patient and just so nice in dealing with our ways of working.”
